Dermal fillers are becoming increasingly popular as an anti wrinkle treatment. Dermal Fillers are helping many people to put back the volume they once had or increase the volume to help achieve more symmetry, balance, fullness and contour. Dermal Fillers allow people to achieve that celebrity appearance that we all desire, e.g. Kylie Jenner Lips, Angelina Jolie Jawline. They are so popular due to their instant results with minimal downtime and affordability.
The most common areas treated by filler are:
- Lips – to define, hydrate and volumise
- Nasolabial lines – these are lines between the mouth and nose
- Marionette lines – these are lines between the mouth and chin
- Cheeks, Jawline, Chin – contouring areas giving a more sculpted and fuller appearance, creating definition or youthfulness
- Noses – straighten side and front profile, lift or lower the tip
What does it involve?
Dermal Fillers or Anti Wrinkle treatment involves injecting medically developed hyaluronic acid under the skin with a fine needle or cannula. You will have an in-depth consultation with an aesthetic practitioner who will examine the area and expectations also clearly communicate the investment patients will make in time and money to achieve their goals. Fillers are a temporary solution and how long they last will depend on the filler used. Lip fillers typically last bout 4-12 months as the filler molecules are smaller therefore giving a softer result. Other facial fillers can last 12-18 months as the filler used it thicker, helping to create definition.
Prior to the injection, local anaesthetic paste is applied to help minimise any discomfort. You can use cool packs after the treatment to reduce any swelling and bruising that may be present. Once the filler has been injected the area will be massaged to ensure the filler is spread evenly.
